Rebates documentation
Rebates adds clickable sponsored footers to Claude Code and Codex. Claude Code renders a statusline sponsor plus matching plain sponsor text in the thinking spinner when a real ad is available; Codex renders the sponsor in its terminal footer row. You earn for every visible footer impression, with each device linked to your dashboard wallet.Quickstart
Install in one command, see the sponsored footer live, and find your earnings page.

Privacy and uninstall
Exactly what leaves your machine, what changes in Claude Code and Codex, and how
rebate off restores it.How it works
rebate patches supported local tools after taking first-install backups. Claude Code gets lifecycle hooks plus statusLine, spinnerVerbs, env.FORCE_HYPERLINK, and /ad; Codex gets a UserPromptSubmit hook plus a restorable launcher shim that draws the sponsor in the Codex footer. rebate off removes Rebate-owned surfaces, restores previous Claude settings, and restores the original Codex launcher while preserving unrelated edits made after install.
One wallet with SellTraces
Rebates is one of two earning engines on the platform. Ads revenue from Rebates and trace sales from SellTraces land in the same account wallet at/dashboard, with one payout flow. You can run either engine alone or both together.
Rebates and SellTraces are separate CLIs with separate consent flows.
rebate handles sponsored-footer setup and earnings events; trace collection is handled by the selltraces CLI only after explicit opt-in.
